CAROL WOOD

BOARD OF TRUSTEES

gradient_02.png

Carol has been attending GMBC with her husband, Harvey, since 1996, except for the six years they lived in Alberta. Since 2012 she has been retired from nursing and enjoys being actively involved with their three adult children/spouses and five grandkids, who all reside in Winnipeg.

Upon attending Grant, Carol was encouraged to join a small group and has continued to be part of one ever since. Women's Tuesday morning ministry, now Daybreak, offered her great Bible studies, especially as a new believer back in 1996. Also, serving with Children's Ministry in those early years of her spiritual growth was a great learning experience and a joy. Since returning to Winnipeg in 2012, She has had wonderful opportunities to serve in Women's Ministry, whether it's guiding a Bible study Tuesday mornings or even facilitating a Women's Spiritual Weekend Retreat. Taking the in-depth Stephen Ministry training and serving was a big step of faith and drew Carol closer to God.

Carol and Harvey have continued to be on the hosting team for Sunday mornings, and they can currently be found on the west side welcoming folks to church. They have gone on many mission/vision trips over the years, including Ecuador, where we were thrilled to visit our sponsored children with Compassion, and Kenya, in 2019. Carol believes her Spiritual Gifts are in administration and shepherding. She could serve by volunteering part-time with Wycliffe Bible Translators as an administrative assistant and by leading a Women's Saturday Morning Monthly Prayer for five years.

Timothy Keller is one of Carol's favourite authors, and she thoroughly enjoys his devotional book on the psalms called The Songs of Jesus. She has sensed God directing her to get involved and care for others. Therefore, she began volunteering at the local community Harvest Manitoba foodbank, giving support to a local youth mission in the Winnipeg Core and leading a small group in their home.

Psalm 32:8 gives Carol much encouragement as she depends on God. "The LORD says, "I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you." Carol thinks the opportunity to be involved on the committee for the new vision and organizational structure at Grant was exciting and humbling. GOD loves His church, and she desires to be on His Team, gathering, growing and going as best as He enables her.
