I was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and have attended Grant Memorial Church since birth. I attended Linden Christian School from Kindergarten to Grade 12 and became a member of Grant in 2019. I obtained my Bachelor of Social Work from Booth University College and am registered with the Manitoba College of Social Workers. I currently work for the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority as a Case Coordinator in home care. I have a passion for working with older adults, and I enjoy my job.
Over the years of attending Grant Memorial Church, I have been involved in various ministries. I started out with leading 4-year-old Sunday school. I have volunteered with young adults, youth, Let It Glow and I’m currently on the Nominating Committee. Currently I am a grade 8 youth leader on Friday nights. I also host Sunday mornings and can be found at the Prayer Chapel entrance. I have a strong desire to see the young adults of the church actively involved in ministry as they are the future leaders of the church. I have a sponsor child through Compassion in Ecuador whom I enjoy getting to write to and hope to one day meet. I also had the privilege of being the female leader on the young adults mission trip to Thailand at the beginning of May.
I love Grant Memorial Church and I’m committed to serving the church in whatever capacity I can. I love fostering community and seeing a place where all feel they belong and matter. I have the spiritual gift of encouragement and like to let people know that they are valued. I also have the gift of leadership, though would much rather assist and lead behind the scenes than at the front. And, I have the gifts of wisdom and discernment and feel all of these gifts would be of value in a Trustee role!
John Mark Comer, who is based out of Portland, Oregon, is one of my favourite authors and pastors. One of his books which has been most impactful is The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry. This book reminded me of how important incorporating Sabbath into the week is. I am learning that a Sabbath is what allows us to rest and be filled so that God’s work can be accomplished throughout the week. If we do not intentionally take time to rest with the Father we will not have the capacity to fully serve and accomplish God’s mission for our life.
I am constantly amazed at what God is accomplishing in my life. Recently I have been leaning into being content and looking to be on mission wherever God takes me. I am excited about the opportunity of serving on the Board of Trustees. I know God has big plans for this church and feel humbled to get the opportunity to bring a young adult's voice to the Board.
