You are invited to participate in training which will equip you to be the hands and feet of Jesus in unexpected places.
Introducing the "Improve Your Serve" conference, created by Grant Memorial for Grant Memorial. We are thrilled for the opportunity to interact digitally for the purpose of training and equipping in this unique season of ministry.
Sign up before October 7 to receive a special care package with workshop resources and other surprises to ensure you appreciate each moment of the conference. Care packages are available to registrants across Manitoba.
Saturday Morning - Rethinking Poverty Together Workshop
Have you ever struggled to respond when someone asks for money while you are stopped at an intersection? What are the root causes of poverty? What are appropriate solutions to begin to eradicate poverty? If you are curious about these questions, the Rethinking Poverty Together Workshop will provide the challenging and supportive environment for you to explore your personal response to the poverty crisis. This workshop is open to all, but is required training for those who would like to participate at a deeper level in CarePortal at Grant. Rethinking Poverty Together Workshop is presented by Food for the Hungry Canada, in partnership with CarePortal.
Saturday Afternoon (Option #1) - Plan to Protect
The children, youth, seniors and vulnerable that God has entrusted to us are precious lives that are full of potential. That is why we need to have policies and plans that best protect our vulnerable and volunteers in ministry settings. We have a responsibility as the church, the body of Christ, to represent him well, to care for with diligence those he has entrusted to us. This training will equip you with the necessary skills to serve those with vulnerability in a God glorifying way. The workshop is open to all, but is required for those who would like to participate at a deeper level in CarePortal or serve with Family Ministry. Plan to Protect is presented by our very own Michelle Luisser.
Saturday Afternoon (Option #2) - Introduction to Trauma Competent Care
Even before COVID-19, there were many ways trauma-affected a child's life including divorce, death of a loved one, neglect, abuse, and violence. Research shows how trauma has a great impact on the development of a child's brain, behaviour and beliefs. Now more than ever we need a good understanding and creative tools to help us with children and families. Come join us as Caitlin Krahn and Dr. Alison Wells-Dyck help us deeper understand the effects of trauma our kids may be experiencing as well as equip us with practical ways to connect with those we serve.
