Child Welfare

Newcomer family had to flee

This is a Newcomer family recently immigrated to Canada. There are four children and two adults in the household who needs an immediate assistance. The family use to live in a very hostile neighborhood where the children bullied and threatened and parents exposed to hate speech. On early April, 2021 when the tension built up the family decided to flee the house and moved to their current address in a rush. In the process, they found out all their household items (beds, sofa, chairs tables, TV, refrigerator etc.) are infested with bedbugs and the new property owner could not accept them with. With no choice to feel safe, they eventually moved in to the new place leaving their property behind. Considering the challenges this family endured and the emotional toll that lead to increased anxiety and poor mental health outcomes the agency is concerned that the parents’ struggle to provide the basic needs for their children and the family, would further fuel the deterioration of their mental wellbeing. The four children ranging from 7 years to 12 years old currently are sleeping on the floor with old mattresses donated from the community. They do not have bed to sleep, chairs and tables to eat and study, couch to sit, games to play, TV to watch and a fridge to keep their food fresh. This ordeal certainly have a negative impact on their education

Church Need

Loving Respite for Family of 7

Church we have the opportunity to shore up a budding relationship with a family in an overwhelmed state.

There is a young family, newborn, 2, 6, 13, and 19 yr old, plus Mom & Dad.

There are health concerns for some children and so with Covid they have come home to be schooled by Mom. Dad is also at the hospital 3 days of the week for dialysis for kidney failure and awaiting a transplant.

This family is feeling very overwhelmed with all that needs doing and help with meals has been asked for! With their health concerns the family eats "Clean" so we may need to check our favorite comfort food recipes!! I do have a list of specific foods that the family CAN eat (it's not that scary!!) and I know some of you are TOTALLY great resources of "healthy eaters" who might be able to help!
I did push and ask if there were favorite take-out the kids might enjoy that they can eat from too!

The ripple of concern has turned into a huge tidal wave of support for this family!! THANK YOU!!!

Please keep them in your prayers! For them AND the Church Contact who stepped in to shore them up and build relationship!!
