Paint & Repair to keep lease

A single mom of 4 kids needs help cleaning and fixing things around her home in order for her landlord to renew her lease. The end of the month is quickly approaching and this needs to be completed by May 31st. The repairs can easily be completed by those with a little bit of experience and the right tools. The mom has started cleaning walls but if they are unable to be cleaned fully, they will need to be painted. There are also about 5 holes in the walls that need patching and new doors needed (of the landlord's choosing). If there are people willing to do the work that would be lovely, but financial donations to cover these costs are also greatly appreciated. The landlord would like the doors to be plain white with no panelling. If you're interested in donating a door, please contact us to ensure the landlord approves. The following sizes are needed: · The door to the basement is 79 and 1/2 inches tall. And 32 inches wide. (Need 1) · All bedroom doors are 80 inches tall, 30 inches wide. (Need 2) · Bathroom door is 80 inches tall, 24 inches wide (Need 1)

As a CFS partner I am requesting assistance for a family on my caseload. My client is a single mother of seven children ages 13 to 2 months old. She is attending school full time and trying to better her future for herself and her children. There is a substantial history of trauma within this family and my client has very little family supports in her life. My client is managing everything on her own and has recently reached out for support for basic necessities that she cannot obtain without help.

Wheels to help heal

A Kinship Worker for a grandmother and her partner (Kinship Home) who began caring for their two grandchildren (13 year old boy & 9 year old girl) five years ago has reached out to ask for help.
The grandmother suffered a heart attack in April and tragically npassed away. Following the death, and expense of a funeral, the grandmother's partner decided to get their bikes that were locked in the underground apartment parkade in attempt to enjoy some of the nicer weather. Unfortunately, the 13 year old's bike was stolen, and the 9 year old's bike was damaged.
This family has experienced so much loss in the last few years, and this was yet another loss. The news also came that with a major furniture buisness closing the long time job is being eliminated putting great financial upheaval on this family.
The 13 year old boy would really appreciate a stunt scooter instead of a bike as there is a skate park nearby their apartment.
The 9 year old girl would like a skate board. For reference but not expecting, Her favorite colors are gold, silver, white, black and blue.

Momma of Twins

I am working with a family who recently moved into an apartment and the mother is experiencing a shortage of funds. She has twin boys who are 14 months old. She is looking for 1 crib, 2 baby gates and a double stroller. As the mother receives these items, she will be able to give both of her babies a comfortable place to sleep, safe barriers away from the kitchen area and the ability to take walks outside in the community as this is the only way the mother can get around with her twins.

Dad & Teen Son Reunification

I am working with a bio father who moved back to Winnipeg from Edmonton in July 2021, and he has legal guardianship of his 15 year old son. The son moved in December 2021 and has been living with family friends outside of town, and has not been enrolled in school this past school year. The father had been couch surfing in Winnipeg and has no personal belongings. The son wants to move back to Winnipeg, attend school and live with his father. The father has secured a two bedroom apartment; however, the only furnishings he has is a sectional couch and ottoman which a family member provided for him. He has since secured a coffee table, end tables and four kitchen chairs through Centre Flavie. The father is requesting furniture for the two bedrooms and a kitchen table that seats four people. We are requesting that both beds need to be queen size as the 15 year old is quite tall. The father is hardworking and is currently looking for employment. He wants to be back in the workforce so he can provide for his family and is requesting assistance so that he can begin this journey of reunification and healing.

Respite! What is that?

We have had MANY asks for "Respite" from Fostering Families that are in our own Church Family.
Respite (a.k.a. babysitting/child minding) is a need for ALL ages of children in care, and for the Families that love on them.
This could look like a few hours a week, to a maybe even a weekend every so often.
It is a need that is as individual as each child and each Fostering Family.

If you or your family could see yourselves stepping in to shore up these families please respond and we can begin a conversation!
We would love to create community and build beautiful resource pool (aka people like YOU) within our Church family.

**note** each agency requires different checks and balances but don't be intimidated -- each Foster Family can hand hold and help with all the steps involved.
